Welcome
At Northern Illinois Retina, our goal is to make your visit as pleasant and comfortable as possible. That’s why we take extra time to help you understand your medical condition and give you as much information as you need about your treatment options. If you have any questions, please ask us.
Your Visit
A visit to the doctor is rarely convenient. That’s why we try to schedule all necessary examinations and tests during your visit. You will see a nurse or ophthalmic technician, your doctor, and other staff if needed. Understandably, this takes time – sometimes two to three hours, or even longer if your doctor feels that immediate treatment is necessary. We kindly ask for your patience.
We also suggest that you have a family member or friend accompany you on your first visit since you will receive important information about your condition and its treatment. Having someone with you will help you retain and remember more. During this visit, we will also dilate your eyes, so we strongly advise that you not drive.
In fact, for your safety, plan on having a friend or family member accompany you to any appointment that involves a procedure or treatment of any kind so that you do not have to drive.
